In the Industry
What drew me to a career in sports: My mentor, Jené Elzie, who has worked in this industry for over 25 years, encouraged me to transition into sports and I fell in love!
Biggest surprise when I started my career: When I joined A1 Partners, I frantically made 450 note cards with NBA players’ names, teams, interests, etc., thinking to be successful in this role, I needed to single-handedly be an “all-knowing sports genius.” I quickly learned you can be passionate about this industry and successful in your job without being a subject-matter expert.
How my generation is changing sports: Greater emphasis placed on being globally/socially conscious and cross-culturally competent individuals, including a push towards greater diversity, inclusion and equality in an industry that has historically lacked diverse representation.
In 10 years, I hope to be … : Living and working internationally again. I started my career in Shanghai and Manila and would love to live and work abroad again.
More About You
Most important lesson of the past 18 months: Practicing and cultivating gratitude, mindfulness and equanimity has the power to positively impact your mental, emotional and physical well-being and drastically improve and transform all facets of your life (both personally and professionally).
Go-to person when I need help: My parents. They have been my biggest advocates and supporters since day one, non-judgmentally listening and offering, at times, a different perspective or point of view that is always rooted in honesty, love, respect, compassion and empathy. I am eternally grateful for them both.
My inspiration: My sister for her resilience and fearlessness in the face of adversity.
