Bowman out as GM of U.S. men's hockey team

Chicago Tribune went above the fold on its front page with news of Bowman stepping down at BlackhawksChicago Tribune

Stan Bowman has resigned as GM of the U.S men’s hockey team at the '22 Beijing Games after an investigation into sexual assault allegations in '10 with the Blackhawks "revealed he knew about the situation and did not report it to authorities." USA Hockey said that a "replacement would be named in the near future" (AP, 10/26). Wild GM Bill Guerin is Assistant GM of the U.S. team, but TSN on Friday reported that the U.S. Center for SafeSport "was opening an investigation of Guerin for allegedly mishandling a separate, unrelated sexual assault" when he was Assistant GM with the Penguins (USA TODAY, 10/26).

Meanwhile, Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff "will face further questioning" from NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman about his "knowledge of sexual assault allegations" regarding the '10 Blackhawks. Cheveldayoff was Assistant GM of the Blackhawks at that time. Bettman plans to meet with Cheveldayoff and then-Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville, who is now with the Panthers. Cheveldayoff in a statement said that he "has shared everything he knows about the matter as part of his participation in the investigation" (WINNIPEG SUN, 10/26).
