PointsBet taps Facebook's Christensen as new CMO

By Bill King

Sportsbook PointsBet US will go outside both sports and betting for its new CMO, hiring former Facebook Head of US Brand & Consumer Marketing Kyle Christensen. Christensen, 36, will work from PointsBet’s U.S. HQ in Denver, reporting to CEO Johnny Aitken. He was raised in nearby Loveland, Col. Prior to Facebook, he served as VP/Marketing at National Geographic TV and held marketing roles at Netflix and at Warner Bros. interactive unit. He began in production at Fox Sports.

“It just really reminds me of the early days of the streaming wars,” said Christensen, who was the marketing lead on campaign strategies at Netflix from '14 to '17. “At the time I came over to Netflix, there was a lot of excitement about the potential and possibilities for what a maturing market could deliver. I was lucky to be with a great brand and great innovators. After sitting with Johnny and talking with Sam (Swanell, PointsBet Group CEO) ... I appreciated the vision and their conviction.”
