Sports Turf Managers Association rebranding to more inclusive title

By Bret McCormick

The Sports Turf Managers Association is rebranding today and becoming the Sports Field Management Association (SFMA). The rebrand includes an updated logo, tagline, website, and vision for the future. SFMA was founded in '81 and connects over 2,700 members that oversee fields at sports stadiums in the professional, university, local school, and parks and recreation levels of the industry, across 32 SFMA chapters. The rebrand decision stemmed from a desire to be more inclusive and move away from the terms “managers,” which may have discouraged non-managers from becoming members in the past, and “turf,” which may have been associated solely with artificial surfaces.
