Dempsey returning as Chair of USA Basketball; Bird, Durant on BOD

Retired U.S. Army Gen. MARTIN DEMPSEY was reelected Chair of USA Basketball, while SUE BIRD and KEVIN DURANT were "among those added to the federation's board of directors," according to the AP. Dempsey will "remain in the role" through the '24 Paris Games. He is the "second person to be elected chair for back-to-back Olympic cycles, following JERRY COLANGELO." Meanwhile, joining Bird and Durant as athlete representatives on the BOD are SEIMONE AUGUSTUSJENNIFER AZZI and HARRISON BARNES. Other new BOD members include WNBA Head of League Operations BETHANY DONAPHIN, West Coast Conference Commissioner GLORIA NEVAREZ, National Federation of State High School Associations Exec Dir KARISSA NIEHOFF and Ariel Investments Chair & co-CEO JOHN ROGERS JR. (AP, 10/26).
