Rickie Fowler made an appearance in the Golf Channel booth this morning following his first round at the PGA Tour Zozo Championship, and he "made quite an impression," according to Christopher Powers of GOLF DIGEST. Fowler was "breaking down shots and their potential results in Tony Romo-like fashion." His short-lived performance was "essentially exactly what the golf fan is looking for when watching tour golf -- a knowledgeable voice breaking down exactly what the player is facing on a particular shot and the potential rewards or consequences of said shot" (GOLFDIGEST.com, 10/21). GOLF MAGIC's Matt Chviers writes it was a "refreshing change to hear a player, who had just played the course, offer his views and analysis of his competitors." Fowler's appearance is part of a "'player takeover' in the commentary booth at Narashino Country Club this week." While Fowler "was not in the booth for long ... his analytical skills were extremely impressive and we are excited to see" who else follows Fowler onto the broadcast (GOLFMAGIC.com, 10/21).
