Kentucky basketball's TyTy Washington signs big Porsche deal

Univ. of Kentucky men's basketball G TyTy Washington has signed "a deal with a Porsche dealership in Louisville," according to Myron Medcalf of ESPN.com. The newest model of the Porsche Cayenne SUV that Washington is driving in an Instagram photo posted yesterday sells "for more than $80,000." UK basketball coach John Calipari said that players are not "coming to Kentucky for NIL opportunities," but he also added that his team has "taken advantage of them." Calipari said, "Our players have the most (NIL) transactions on our campus, and there is only really 10 of them taking advantage" (ESPN.com, 10/20).

N.Y. HIGH SCHOOLERS ALLOWED IN ON THE ACTION: On Long Island, Roger Rubin notes the New York State Public High School Athletic Association will "permit amateur athletes competing in state public-school sports to profit" from NIL. However, the athletes may not "identify with the teams they play on," meaning they cannot "use team uniforms or symbols associated with their school programs" (NEWSDAY, 10/21).
