John Thompson III invests in American Cornhole League

Former Georgetown Univ. basketball coach John Thompson III has invested in the American Cornhole League alongside Asland Capital Partners Founding Partner & CEO James H. Simmons III. Financial details of the investment were unavailable, though the new capital is expected to support the league’s marketing, content development and international expansion. Last year, the ACL signed multiyear broadcast deals with ESPN and CBS; its commercial sponsors include DraftKings, Guaranteed Rate and Johnsonville. Thompson and Simmons were advised on the ACL transaction by Inner Circle Sports, with Rimon Law as legal counsel; the ACL was advised by Apollo Sports & Entertainment Law Group.
