NHL Panthers offer NIL deal to all Florida Atlantic female athletes

By Mark J. Burns

The NHL Panthers are announcing this morning that the team has offered an NIL contract to all eligible female student-athletes at Florida Atlantic Univ., totaling over 200 individuals. The Panthers declined to share monetary figures but said all athletes will be offered equal compensation. As part of the Panthers offer, which the team says is a first-of-its-kind initiative in name, image and likeness, players at FAU would be invited to attend Panthers home games at BB&T Center, receive team merchandise and engage with their followers via social media. There is no deadline for players to accept the offer, according to a team spokesperson. The deal term is whichever comes first between the end of the Panthers’ '21-22 season or a player’s college eligibility. Panthers Chief Strategy Officer Sam Doerr is leading NIL programming and deal efforts. On Aug. 9, the NHL team signed Univ. of Miami QB D’Eriq King to an NIL deal, marking the first college player to sign an NIL agreement with a pro sports team.
