Buyers & Sellers: Jelena Jankovic Lists California Home For Sale

Tennis player JELENA JANKOVIC is selling her home in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., for $13.5M. The home sits on about two acres in a "guard-gated community with a tennis court and a swimming pool." The more than 15,000-square-foot house has a "home theater, a billiards room, five fireplaces and a 12-car subterranean garage." There is also a wine cellar that has storage for 1,200 bottles (LATIMES.com, 2/26).

BUYERS & SELLERS: Kings LW ILYA KOVALCHUK is selling his Alpine, N.J., home for $17.99M. The 22,000-square-foot mansion has a "basement with a lounge, a theater, a bar, a plunge pool, a massage room, an exercise room, a sauna, an arts-and-crafts room and a one-bedroom guest suite." The eight-bedroom home features 11 bathrooms and three half baths (NYPOST.com, 2/20)....Packers President & CEO MARK MURPHY once again listed his home in De Pere, Wisc., for $1.5M. He originally listed the home last summer, but "took it off the market during the Packers' season." The house has seven bedrooms, six full baths and an in-ground swimming pool. It has more than 7,300 square feet of finished space on two acres (JSONLINE.com, 2/26)....The Ft. Lauderdale home of late Dolphins, Marlins and Panthers Owner WAYNE HUIZENGA is headed for auction on March 26. The 20,653-square-foot estate occupies 1.41 acres and "offers over 590 feet of riverfront with room for mega yachts that extend up to 135 feet." The estate is a five-building compound that "contains 10 bedrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the water, safe rooms, a billiards room, theater, gym and an elevator" (SUN-SENTINEL.com, 2/21).

SBJ Spotlight: TikTok’s threat to traditional sports media

While tech companies are consumed with finding ways to compete with TikTok, almost no one in conventional media “spends any time talking about it,” said Recode senior correspondent Peter Kafka in an Spotlight interview with SBJ’s John Ourand. “To me, that’s just an obvious disconnect.” Kafka authored a recent column headlined, “It’s TikTok’s world. Can TV live in it?” He said the main response to TikTok’s growth from traditional media execs has been to “punt and hope it’s someone else’s problem a quarter from now or two years from now.” But Kafka said that ignores the trend of conventional broadcast audiences growing older while a billion younger consumers spend most of their media time watching short video after short video. “If you’re in the business of getting anyone under the age of 30 to look at what you’re putting on a screen, you have to think about the fact that you’re probably asking them to put down TikTok and watch your thing instead,” said Kafka. “That’s a very difficult ask. … [TikTok] is insanely addictive.”
