As head of corporate sponsorships for PNC, Sapienza’s primary responsibility is leading the team that delivers corporate sponsorship strategy, execution, activation and business development amongst PNC’s entire footprint. In addition to advising markets on sports, entertainment and community development sponsorships, she has oversight of PNC’s sponsorship consulting and measurement agencies.
During Sapienza’s time at PNC she has worked to secure major partnerships with the PNC Champions PGA tournament, the Chicago Bears, the New York Giants, the Cincinnati Reds, the Dallas Stars, the Ryman Auditorium, Chip Ganassi Racing, NASCAR and the PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, NC. In 2015, Sapienza also launched an integrated health & wellness platform that has grown to more than 30 event sponsorships. Most recently, Sapienza negotiated naming rights renewals for PNC Park (Pittsburgh) and the PNC Bank Arts Center (Holmdel, NJ). Currently, Sapienza and her team are working to re-brand and integrate a new portfolio of sponsorships connected to the acquisition of BBVA USA, including naming rights of BBVA Stadium (Houston) and BBVA Field (Birmingham, AL).
Sapienza joined PNC shortly after the closing and conversion of RBC Bank to PNC Bank in March 2012. As Director of Regional Marketing & Sponsorships for RBC Bank, she led the team who was responsible for managing local market strategy to include sponsorships, charitable donations, business development activities, special events, community outreach and sales promotion across RBC Bank’s 6-state footprint. Sapienza also led the year-round activation of the multi-million dollar naming rights venue, the RBC Center in Raleigh, NC. Post conversion, she led the team that unveiled the renamed PNC Arena.
Prior her time in financial services, Sapienza was a member of Disney’s Regional Entertainment team and helped launch the ESPN Zone venue in Chicago. She also led the special events group at National Football League Players Incorporated (PLAYERS INC) where she largely focused on Super Bowl and made-for-television events. At the beginning of her career Sapienza spent time at IMG managing sponsorship sales and activations at women’s professional tennis events.
