Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Sportsrocket

Brian Bedol is an investor and entrepreneur who, throughout his career, has facilitated transformation within the sports industry. Labeled "a maverick entrepreneur in an increasingly mature industry" by Adweek, Bedol founded Sportsrocket in 2014 to change the way sports fans connect, through video, with the teams and athletes that they love. In a short time, Sportsrocket, under Bedol’s leadership, has built partnerships with some of the leading players in sports, including the PGA Tour, Major League Soccer, Big Ten Network, Turner Sports, AS Roma, and the National Lacrosse League. Sportsrocket was spun out of Bedrocket Media Ventures, a digital media incubator started by Bedol in 2010. At Bedrocket, Bedol also co-founded the number one social video news provider, NowThisNews, with Huffington Post founder, Ken Lerer.
As an entrepreneur, he was founder and CEO of Classic Sports Network, which he sold to ESPN (now ESPN Classic) as well as College Sports Television and, which were sold to CBS (now CBS College Sports.) He also helped create the YES Network. These pioneering companies led to a new model of direct-to-fan networks for sports rights holders. Earlier in his career, Bedol was involved in the launch and early operations for influential cable networks The Movie Channel, MTV, Nick-at-Nite and Court TV. He began his career as a writer of television advertising on the McDonald’s account for DDB Needham (and obtained a degree from Hamburger University).
Bedol has also been an active seed and venture investor, including as a founding partner in venture capital firm General Catalyst Partners. He was a seed investor and advisor at Akamai Technologies (NASD: AKAM), Gamesville (acquired by Lycos), Buddy Media (acquired by Salesforce) and Bluefin Labs (acquired by Twitter.) He is also an advisor at Courtside Ventures. Originally from Cleveland, he holds a B.S. degree from Boston University’s College of Communications and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.
